Former professional wrestler Dave Bautista has gone a long way landing big acting roles, and he's already become part of a few major franchises such playing a villain in last year's James Bond film Spectre and Drax the Destroyer in Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy. In his next foray into sci-fi, Bautista will be joining Harrison Ford in Blade Runner 2!
According to Slash Film, Warner Bros. recently confirmed Bautista as part of the cast of the sequel to Ridley Scott's 80s classic sci-fi. It's unclear at this point what role he'll be playing in the film, but it has been deemed "important" to the plot, but he could easily be a replicant or a human.
Bautista and the rest of the cast (which so far includes Ford, Ryan Gosling and Robin Wright) will begin shooting next July. The actor is currently shooting another sequel, the 2017 Marvel Cinematic Universe release Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, where he'll reprise his role of Drax.
As it has been previously reported, Blade Runner 2, from a screenplay by Hampton Fancher and Michael Green, will be set decades after the original film. The story the film is based on was originally written by Fancher and Scott, the latter of whom will also be executive producing the project, which will be directed by Sicario filmmaker Denis Villeneuve.
So far, details of the plot are being kept under wraps, and the only thing known is that Ford is set to reprise his role as Rick Deckard. So far, only the previously mentioned cast members have been announced (in fact, Wright's casting hasn't been confirmed yet, but she's supposed to be in final talks), but there is talk of two other major female roles.
So far, there aren't any rumors regarding who could be playing the other two major female characters, or if there are other important roles left.
The still-untitled Blade Runner sequel will be in theaters on January 12, 2018.© 2019 Mstars News, All rights reserved. Do not reproduce without permission.
