This year marks the 50th anniversary of the first time the Starship Enterprise made its way into the small screen for the first time, led by Captain Kirk and Mr. Spock, and this year's celebration marks a lot of exciting things! The third part of the reboot, Star Trek Beyond, is coming to theaters -- and Sofia Boutella's alien character Jaylah looks downright fascinating in new photos!

Empire Magazine has just released a new photo of Boutella's character, which was already teased in the film's trailer, now accompanied by two of the Enterprise crew members: Mr. Spock himself (Zachary Quinto) and Bones (Karl Urban). The three are crouching, well armed, seemingly waiting for an enemy to pop up -- and characteristically, Bones seems very unimpressed with the whole situation.

Similarly, another batch of promotional photos from the Trek threequel were released through Check Magazine, and it would seem everyone's very concerned in the photos. In the newly released snaps we get a first glimpse of most of the main cast of the upcoming film, including Idris Elba's villain Krall trying to choke Chris Pine's Captain Kirk, and another one with Boutella's character, though this time with Simon Pegg, who plays Scotty.

Besides reprising his role from Star Trek and Star Trek Into Darkness, Pegg also took a major part behind the scenes from Beyond: he was one of the people responsible for writing the film's screenplay. Star Trek Beyond is the first film of the rebooted franchise that wasn't directed by J.J. Abrams, though he was still behind the scenes as producer; this time around, the director was Justin Lin, who's directed three of the Fast and the Furious movies.

The film brings back the main cast from the two first films, also including Zoe Saldana as Uhura and Anton Yelchin as Chekov. Iranian Oscar nominee Shohreh Aghdashloo is also part of the cast in the role of the High Command of the Federation.

Star Trek Beyond will be released in theaters on July 22.
