An Anna Kendrick film is currently in the works over at Disney studio. The "Pitch Perfect" actress is in talks to star in a movie about a female Santa Claus.
Anna Kendrick to play Santa's daughter
The Santa Claus story has been recycled and revamped numerous times on the silver screen. One twist Disney wants to add to its new film is that, instead of a male heir, Santa Claus will be succeeded by his daughter, to be played by Anna Kendrick.
According to Variety, the film will be written and directed by Marc Lawrence, who was also responsible for the hit comedy movie, "Miss Congeniality", starring Sandra Bollock. The film is currently titled, "Nicole", where Kendrick plays the titular character. The movie will show a retiring Santa Claus who is poised to give hand over his title to his son. Unfortunately, St. Nick's son bails, so Nicole steps up to the challenge.
Planned Santa Claus movies in the future
Entertainment Weekly reported that, aside from "Nicole," Disney is also planning a Santa Claus movie with actor-comedian Kevin Hart. The film, "Dashing Through the Snow", is about a workaholic detective and his son struggling to make Christmas work. Fortunately for them, Santa Claus (played by Kevin Hart) will come to help.
Interestingly, another "Pitch Perfect" alum is set to produce another Christmas film. Elizabeth Banks will be producing and writing "Mrs. Claus", a movie about Mrs. Claus and the struggles she goes through to make Christmas perfect for everyone in the world.
Marc Lawrence, who was also behind the sweet sensation, "Music and Lyrics", last helmed a film four years ago. It was "The Rewrite", which starred Hugh Grant. "Nicole" will be his first movie since 2014.

Meanwhile, Anna Kendrick has been kept busy with multiple projects. Just last year, she starred in "The Accountant", "Trolls", "Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates", "Get a Job", and "The Hollars". In 2017, she is slated to appear in "Table 19" and "Pitch Perfect 3".© 2017 Mstars News, All rights reserved. Do not reproduce without permission.
