When the movie "Deadpool" had hit the theaters and shook its viewers, many just couldn't get enough of the fun-filled action and hoped for a sequel that will continue the anti-hero story. Now, fans are getting ecstatic because "Deadpool 2" is happening and developments are underway.
Ryan Reynolds, who will reprise his role as Deadpool, spoke to Entertainment Weekly and talked about what to expect from "Deadpool 2" and stated that they are close to filming the second film. Although Tim Miller have stepped down for the sequel, David Leitch will take throne in the "Deadpool 2" director's seat.
Since there is no doubt already that "Deadpool 2" is going to happen, the question now lies as to who will make part of it. Reynolds confirmed that they're currently casting for the mutants Cable and Domino.
Cable is one of the favorite characters that will appear because of his few known attributes - flat top, a bionic arm, and the ability to time travel. So far, actor Kyle Chandler is reportedly being considered for the role, but nothing has been finalized. Other actors who can play the role in "Deadpool 2" include Dolph Lundgren, Jon Hamm, Stephen Lang, Mel Gibson, and even the lovely Kiera Knightly.
It is also safe to assume that Vanessa, played by Morena Baccarin, will still appear in "Deadpool 2." There are reports that screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick would transform Bacarrin's character into a shape shifting mutant Copycat in "Deadpool 2 making her character more related to her comic book counterpart. But the writers held it off saying that they didn't want "to muddy the waters" with, 'Wait a second, she's also a mutant?' kind of thought.
Meanwhile, hunches about Logan or Wolverine having a special appearance in "Deadpool 2" are also spreading. However, when Hugh Jackman actor was interviewed, he said that he never thought about him appearing in the sequel of "Deadpool" but has liked the idea that he and Ryan Reynolds will be working together.
The "Deadpool 2" plot details remain guarded in secret, although it presumes that it has something more likely to do with Deadpool and Cable's rivalry or friendship. On the other hand, Simon Kinberg, producer of the film, specified that their plans for the sequel is not to make it bigger.
"We have to resist the temptation to make it bigger in scale and scope, which is normally what you do when you have a surprise hit movie," Kinberg said as cited on GameGuide. Nonetheless, the movie needs to be as provocative and as startling as the first film while keeping its freshness and authenticity.
The sequel movie is still in its very early stage and hasn't started the production yet. Fans should expect that "Deadpool 2" might be scheduled for a 2018 release.
