Huawei P10 is the company's flagship smartphone for 2017 announced at Mobile World Congress. It has updated internals and boasts a colorful look. Huawei P9 that was launched last year offers similar specifications to the Huawei P10. So the question is why should one upgrade?
Huawei P10 and Huawei P9 have subtle differences in the internals. Both the devices have a similar minimalistic design and have a metal back panel. These smartphones look almost similar except the Huawei P10 houses the fingerprint sensor on the front while the Huawei P9 has it on the back.
Huawei P9 has a bigger display at 5.2-inches compared to Huawei P10's 5.1-inch. However, the resolution for both the smartphones remains the same at 1080p. Huawei P10's display is protected by Gorilla Glass 5 but Huawei P9 uses Corning Gorilla Glass 3 for the display protection, PC Advisor reported.
Huawei P10 is powered by HiSilicon Kirin 960 while the Huawei P9 uses HiSilicon Kirin 955 SOC which are manufactured by Huawei. Huawei claims the new SOC delivers 180 percent increase in performance. The Huawei P9 has 3GB RAM (in the base model) while the Huawei P10 has an upgraded 4GB RAM. Both phones support Dual-SIM functionality.
There are major changes in the camera department for Huawei P10 as it features an upgraded 20MP monochrome sensor compared to the 12MP on the Huawei P9. However, the color sensor on both the phones is 12MP and is manufactured by Leica. Huawei P10 also boasts optical image stabilization and 4K video recording which are not available on the Huawei P9, Trusted Reviews reported.
The Huawei P10 also bumps up the battery capacity to 3200 mAh while the Huawei P9 has a 3000 mAh battery. Huawei P10 has Android 7.0 Nougat with EMUI 5.1 which revamps the whole UI and gives a lot better user experience than EMUI 4.1. The EMUI 5.1 also incorporates machine learning which allocates processing power to the applications depending upon the time of the day to provide a snappier experience.
