AMC's hottest zombie apocalypse action series "The Walking Dead" is expected to last for at least 20 years. The show's executive producer and showrunner, Scott M. Gimple, revealed that he wanted the show to last as long as "The Simpsons". Gimple also said that he wants the show to last as long as the comics, which started in 2003 and is still churning out new volumes.

The action series that continues to garner millions of votes every season is not stopping anytime soon. "The Walking Dead" showrunner, Scott M. Gimple, said that the show will continue till 2030 or longer. Rumors have been going around about the series' possible cancellation because of a drop in ratings, but Gimple disregards those rumors. He also said that the show could last as long as "The Simpsons".

According to NY Daily News, Gimple believes that the show has the potential to last more than a decade. "We are trying to do twenty years. The ("Walking Dead") comic has certainly done it, and I look forward to every issue," he said during the annual Paleyfest in Los Angeles. Currently, AMC is airing "The Walking Dead" Season 7, and a new season has already been confirmed.

Gimple went on to say that each season will give the audience something new. He also said that the viewers will see more risky and shocking things on the upcoming "The Walking Dead" seasons. He also promised that the show will stay faithful to the comic books, but it will also feature riskier moves that fans will not see coming.

Regarding Rick Grimes' (Andrew Lincoln) fate on the show, "The Walking Dead" producer Greg Nicotero said that all the cast members loved their job. He went on to hint that Lincoln, Norman Reedus, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan will continue to stay on the show in the foreseeable future, according to Independent. This prompted many viewers to wonder how long Negan will stay.

Many fans speculated before that Lincoln will leave the show because of rumors that he was unhappy. Nicotero shot that down, saying that "The Walking Dead" main star was looking forward to more episodes and seasons. Accordingly, the show will start to introduce more original characters and storylines in the upcoming seasons.
