Thomas Keller is building an addition to his empire of restaurants, a "Mad-Men" themed restaurant that can house up to 200 people. The restaurant is in the works and is expected to serve next year.
After ten years, American chef Thomas Keller is finally on his new restaurant project "TAK Room". It is being built in Manhattan's Hudson Yards and is slated to be able to hold up to 200 people, as reported by New York Eater. But unlike his other restaurants, some changes might appear in the TAK Room, which will make the restaurant different from other "Keller" restaurants.
TAK Room will is expected to serve next year, and it will feature "continental cuisine" dishes. Thomas Keller, who is known for being a meticulous and detail-oriented person, is planning to make TAK Room less expensive that his other restaurants, French Laundry and Per Se. The change is to compliment the ever changing preference of customers to the food that they buy. Expensive meal courses are becoming unpopular, and as for this, a friend has advised Keller to change strategies.
“He saw it as a wake-up call, certainly — a defining moment,” said Russ Parsons, the retired food editor of The Los Angeles Times who has done some works for Thomas Keller.
TAK Room will have a "Mad-Men" era theme, and six chefs will join him in his new restaurant. Included in the list are Chef Jose Andres and Costas Spiliadis. The kitchen is already finished for several weeks. There will be extra space for accommodation for people who will want a tour of the kitchen, as reported by New York Times. Keller is working with his life partner Laura Cunningham for this (and other) projects.
Thomas Keller is getting things as perfect as they could be. On a recent event, a thread hanging from the toque of a chef never escaped the Keller's watchful eyes.
