"Pokemon Stars" is speculated to be ported on either the Nintendo Switch or the Nintendo 3DS.It is still unsure if what console will it run, but speculations point to the Nintendo Switch. The twist for the next Pokemon game is said to be its Augmented Reality concept.
Pokemon games have been on the front row of every handheld device Nintendo had produced. Some might even think that every handheld gaming device that Nintendo will pull out of its sleeves is made especially for Pokemon. So it is highly expected that Nintendo Switch, albeit being a hybrid handheld and home console, will have its own Pokemon game. The allegedly game was dubbed as "Pokemon Stars".
It is not certain as to where "Pokemon Stars" would be ported. It could be on Nintendo Switch or Nintendo 3DS. Game Freak hinted that they are planning to develop a Pokemon game earlier this year when they posted ads for Game Designers, as reported by Polygon. The Pokemon game is expected to be announced at the upcoming E3 Press Conference and the console that will home "Pokemon Stars" will also be revealed.
"Pokemon has been about being portable, but now there is the Switch, which is a portable home console, so it has a bigger screen and higher specs than we're used to," The Pokemon Company CEO Tsunekazu Ishihara said in an interview.
The game is also being rumored to have an augmented reality concept, as reported by Korea Portal. It is also possible that "Pokemon Stars" will not only support interactions with its native console Nintendo 3DS, but with the popular "Pokemon Go!" game as well. This setup has good and bad sides. The good side is, "Pokemon Stars" will have a bigger market and probably, more sales. The bad side is, the game will cannibalize Nintendo 3DS' future sales, as new players will probably buy Nintendo Switch than Nintendo 3DS. It is a big drawback if Nintendo wants to keep the 3DS around for quite more time.
