Microsoft Surface Pro 5 is not called as that, instead, it was called as the "New" Microsoft Surface Pro 2017 at the Shanghai event held last May 23. Panos Panay revealed the new device that will be (re)joining the Microsoft Surface family. Also, the Google ChromeOS counterpart from Microsoft is also revealed.
Though the Shanghai event lacks live stream and updates for the other parts of the world, the announcement about the most anticipated Microsoft Surface Pro 5 happened at the Shanghai event. Surprisingly, the company decided to walk a different path when it comes to its naming consistency as the new surface tablet was called "New Microsoft Surface Pro 2017", as reported by Trusted Reviews.
It is reported that the new Microsoft Surface Pro 2017 will have a fanless Intel 7th-gen Kaby Lake that is said to improve battery life up to 13.5 hours. The new Surface Pro will also have a lighter build. The Surface Pen is also upgraded with improved latency. New Type Covers were also unveiled, though the design is the same to prevent incompatibilities. The new Kickstand now opens to a full 165 degrees from 150 degrees formerly, for those who wants to tilt their surface pros a little bit further, as reported by PC Mag.
Panos Panay also made an announcement about the Surface Laptop that was revealed a nearly a month ago. The Surface Laptop, which is Surface Studio renamed and is now a full-fledged laptop was introduced in the Shanghai event. The cloud-based Microsoft Windows 10 which is the counterpart of Google ChromeOS is also introduced as the Windows 10 S. HoloLens Development Edition and Commercial Suite is also announced to come to China.
