Fans have since wondered who Zendaya plays in "Spider-Man: Homecoming" the moment she was cast. Now the answer has been revealed and it turns out her character has links to the villain in the film.
A previously leaked cast list for "Spider-Man: Homecoming" revealed that Zendaya plays the role of Michelle. At that time, there were no details given surrounding the character. Fans speculated that Michelle was just a code name since she actually plays Mary Jane Watson.
However, the former Disney star has since denied that she plays Mary Jane Watson, or Peter Parker's love interest for that matter. Now, thanks to Nerdist fans have their answer as to who Michelle really is in "Spider-Man: Homecoming."
According to the publication, the full name of Zendaya's character is Michelle Toomes. The family name may sound familiar. That is because it links to the main villain in the movie--Adrian Toomes aka the Vulture (Michael Keeton). Michelle is the daughter of the Vulture. This revelation supposedly comes from the book companion to the film titled "Spider-Man: Homecoming-The Junior Novel."
However, this revelation about Zendaya's character in "Spider-Man: Homecoming" should be taken with a grain of salt. According to Screen Geek, the book never gave Michelle a surname.
Regardless, it would make a very interesting twist if Zendaya does play Michelle Toomes in "Spider-Man: Homecoming." It opens a possible conflict between her and the titular character. It begs the question about Michelle's loyalties and if she is anything like her father the Vulture. As far as the trailer revealed, Zendaya's character seems to fall on the good side.
Likewise, it remains unclear how Michelle factors in the story. Will she play a big role in the defeat of the Vulture or will she go against the titular hero. It is unknown how "Spider-Man: Homecoming" will play out this possible father-daughter relationship between the Vulture and Michelle, given that the latter is Peter Parker's friend.© 2018 Mstars News, All rights reserved.
