The two-night finale of Season 12 of "American Idol" begins Wednesday night at 8 p.m. and fans of the show will be able to order the winner's album almost immediately after she is crowned.
USA Today is reporting that, in a first for "American Idol," the winner's album will be available for pre-order on iTunes immediately after the finale on Thursday night. The album will drop within six weeks after the finale, likely before the American Idols Live Tour that begins on June 29.
Ordinarily, the "American Idol" winner waits approximately five months to release his or her album. Phillip Phillips, for example, released his successful album The World from the Side of the Moon on Nov. 19, 2012 even though he won Season 11 of the show in May 2012.
The winner this year will embark on a promotional tour and will then likely enter the studio for the several weeks until the 40 shows of the American Idols Live Tour starts on June 29.
In addition, both Candice Glover and Kree Harrison have already recorded their singles and will perform them on Wednesday night. The two women will compete for America's votes and the title of the Season 12 winner of "American Idol."
