Kanye West already started ushering in the new. The "Black Skinheads" rapper dropped his highly anticipated sixth album Yeezus and welcomed in his first child a baby girl, North West with partner Kim Kardashian. Now Yeezy is preparing for the release of his new red colorway Nike Air Yeezy's II also known as the "Red Octobers" with a 50 pair giveaway.
The marketing mogul that he is Kanye is allowing fans that purchase Yeezus to enter the competition. Fans can purchase the album or email firstname.lastname@example.org for a code that will allow them to enter to win their exclusive pair of glow in the dark bottom "Red Octobers."
The contest will commence Monday, June 24 and last for three weeks, until the week of July 14th. The contest is open to legal residents 18-years of age or older within the 50 United States (including the District of Columbia) and Canada (excluding the province of Quebec). A winners list will be available online from July 30-August 31 at giveaway.kanyewest.com.
Kim Kardashian set the internet on fire, when she posted a picture of Kanye's album cover and the new all red Yeezy's to her Instagram account, May 18, according to Kicks On Fire. Kim's Air Yeezy II picture happened to be on the same day Kanye debuted the all-red colorway of his second signature shoe with Nike on SNL. Although rumors have been circulating since last year that the glow in the dark sole all red Yeezy 2's where on the way, the reality star confirmed it for all the sneaker heads out there.
Yeezy gave a shout to the kicks on "Hold My Liquor." He rapped:
"One cold night in October
Pussy had me floating
Feel like Deepak Chopra
Pussy had me dead
Might call 2Pac over
Yeezy's all on you sofa
These the red Octobers..."
Kanye West is the first ever non-athlete to partner with Nike for a sneaker, and Nike could nt be more happier with that decision. When the Nike Air Yeezy's first dropped in 2009, with only 3000 pairs made available the show sold out instantly. The Air Yeezy II dropped in 2012 and sneaker heads went wild.
