As Mstars previously reported, rumors suggest that erotic authoress E.L. James doesn't want "Vampire Diaries" heartthrob Ian Somerhalder snagging the kinky role of Christian Grey in the highly-anticipated film adaptation of "Fifty Shades of Grey." And apparently, the sexy 34-year-old fan-favorite is pretty offended (maybe even a little pissed) by James' blatent diss. When recently asked who should play Anastasia Steele's naughty lover, Somerhalder simply replied, "I don't know, you tell me... maybe Jim Carrey." Is the former "Lost" hottie just joking around, or is he actually mad he's (allegedly) no longer a leading contender for the S&M-inspired role?

Here's some more details regarding the initial "Mr. Somerhalder will NOT play Christian Grey" rumors sparked by E.L. James:

Sexy Ian Somerhalder remains a top fan-favorite to snag the charmingly seductive role of Christian Grey in the upcoming film adaptation of "Fifty Shades of Grey." But apparently that won't happen... especially if such kinky casting decision's are left to E.L. James! According to insiders who attended Comic Con earlier this month, the erotic authoress was going around at parties telling people that the S&M-inspired part "won't go to" the 34-year-old "Vampire Diaries" heartthrob. Are "Fifty Shades" fans disappointed... if such casting rumors are indeed true.

A source recently told Us Weekly that Somerhalder definitely won't land the highly-coveted role of Mr. Grey. The former "Lost" hottie might be extremely interested in the naughty role of Anastasia Steele's erotic lover, but E.L. James "definitely" isn't. She told several partygoers at Comic Con events over the weekend that Somerhalder won't be getting the part.

Just a few weeks ago, Metro Online questioned Nina Dobrev's ex-beau about such "Fifty Shades" casting rumors. He said, "One can never get bored of people asking about a huge project... Everyone has to realize every guy in Hollywood is up for this role. It could be anyone - that's how that goes."

So, apparently E.L. James is more interested in "one of those other young guys in Hollywood." Which is odd, considering she once tweeted some "Ian Somerhalder as Christian Grey" love...

And several Twitter fans are still pinning for Somerhalder to snag the hot-and-steamy role:

@emsabeachchick5: "They just need to officially cast Ian Somerhalder as Christian Grey and be done with it. We all know he'd be perfect."

@Robin_Pham: "Ian Somerhalder as Christian Grey. Yes please."

@ohmypaulfection: "Ian Somerhalder is not going to play the role of Christian Grey... time to cry an ocean."

@iShipBaniel: "if ian somerhalder isnt casted as christian grey idk what ill do with my life."

E.L. James has remained VERY hush-hush about "Fifty Shades" casting decisions... so why would she start spreading such rumors now (especially to random "witnesses" at Comic Con)? Perhaps the entire thing is a hoax to rile fans up...

Whether such rumors are true or not... Somehalder doesn't seem too happy about the apparent Mr. Grey low-blow.

Recently arriving at LAX, one paparazzo asked Somerhalder who he thinks should snag the seductive role of Ana Steele's bedtime mate. Somerhalder doesn't seem too thrilled with answering:

Eventually, he suggests the name Jim Carrey. Wait, what, really? The 51-year-old comedian!?

He's clearly joking around... but in a rather annoyed manner.

Poor Ian... should James give him another chance?
