The post-credits scene has become a staple of the Marvel Cinematic Universe since Iron Man back in 2008.

The next Marvel film, Captain America: The Winter Soldier will undoubtedly have one as well. Directors Anthony and Joe Russo sat down with Collider and talked about the creation of the post-credits scene:

"That's probably the most fluid component of these movies is the after-credits scene. The movie doesn't get released for a year. A lot can change in a year, eight months from now. So we have ideas for what it could be, but also once Joss (Whedon) turns in the Avengers 2 script, there might be something that we want to bump for Avengers 2 and then that'll become the after-credits sequence.

"It really is sort of, it's very, again, it's just organic to what the project is, what's coming up. You saw with Iron Man it wasn't specific to Iron Man 3. It wasn't specific to the storytelling of a future film. It wasn't specific to the storytelling of that movie. It was more of a button. So we never know. It's a free-flowing process and we'll see what's headed our way."

The directors did not give any real details about what the scene would entail, but they did indicate that it could have some connection to The Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier stars Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Samuel L. Jackson, Cobie Smulders and Sebastian Stan. The movie is set for release on April 4, 2014.
