When the CBS hit sitcom "The Big Bang Theory" returns on Thursday, Sept. 26, Raj may find himself in an interesting romantic situation.
Raj drove away his girlfriend, Lucy (Kate Micucci) in the Season 6 finale in yet another horribly failed attempt with the opposite sex for everyone's favorite Indian astrophysicist. But the one good thing to come out of the whole situation was that Raj discovered, thanks to Penny, that he can now talk to women without the aid of alcohol.
This led fans to wonder if Raj might use his new ability to try and win back his equally socially awkward ex-girlfriend. In the latest "Ask Ausiello" column at TVLine, Michael Ausiello addresses the possibility of Lucy's return through executive producer Steve Molaro:
"Question: Does The Big Bang Theory have any plans to bring back Lucy? I really liked her with Raj and was surprised the show split them up in the finale. -Missi
Ausiello: Exec producer Steve Molaro says 'the door was intentionally left wide open' for Kate Micucci to return as Raj's ex, noting, 'Raj said at the end of Season 6, 'I pushed it too hard. I need to give her some space.' And he's still heartbroken about Lucy and sort of picking up the pieces and trying to move forward... But I love those characters together.'"
So it seems like anything is possible for Raj's love life in Season 7. Molaro has previously said that Raj will not suddenly turn into a ladies man simply because he can talk. In fact, expect Raj to still struggle mightily when he tries to communicate with the opposite sex.
