The casting of Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne/Batman in the 2015 Man of Steel sequel known as Batman vs. Superman has been often discussed and much maligned, but perhaps this new bit of information will placate some upset fans.
Batman-on-Film.com reports that General Motors is currently designing and building the new Batmobile for the film at the GM Advanced Design Studio in North Hollywood. This team most recently designed and built the numerous vehicles for Michael Bay's Transformers 4.
Here's what the site reports about the car:
"It will definitely NOT have a military look like The Tumbler from [Chris] Nolan's 'Dark Knight Trilogy.'
As of about four weeks ago, it was still 'pictures on the wall' - meaning nothing had actually been built yet.
An 'old Cadillac' will feature prominently in the film. When I remarked to my source that the Cadillac Sixteen concept car from a few years back looked a lot like a Batmobile, he stayed mum."
The site goes on to speculate (and speculation is all it is) that the "old Cadillac" would be the new Batmobile.
It is not surprising that those behind the film would want to redesign the Batmobile. After all, this is supposed to be a new universe separate from Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy. A new universe and new Batman would necessitate a new Batmobile.
