Season 3 of the ABC hit Scandal returns Thursday night on ABC and a new mysterious character, played by former Private Practice star Paul Adelstein, will make his debut in the episode. A new clip from the episode reveals details about Adelstein's character.
Those behind Scandal had previously been keeping the details about the character under wraps, but EW.com obtained an exclusive clip that reveals Adelstein will play Leo Bergen, a man whom Cyrus (Jeff Perry) and Mellie (Bellamy Young) try to recruit to help lead President Fitzgerald Grant's (Tony Goldwyn) re-election campaign. Unfortunately, Leo does not jump at the chance to help Fitz, for more than one reason.
Leo is scheduled as a recurring character this season. Check out the clip here in which Leo, among other things, calls Mellie a "frigid shrew," points out the positives and negatives of Fitz's character and then candidly points out that Fitz is a loser based on the way he appears. He even goes as far as to say as it looks like he hasn't had sex in quite a while.
The 44-year-old Adelstein has appeared on or starred in ER, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Without a Trace, Las Vegas, Prison Break, Be Cool, Memoirs of a Geisha, Medium, Scrubs, Grey's Anatomy and Private Practice.
In other Scandal news, Olivia Pope may soon meet her match in the form of an equally sassy but far more dangerous woman that will give the fixer a run for her money.
Scandal airs Thursday at 10 p.m. Eastern on ABC.
