Since 1998, the world's best body painters have gathered in southern Austria to show their skills at The World Bodypainting Festival. Artists from 40 different nations traveled to Pörtschach, Lake Wörthersee this year to stun and entertain visitors from around the globe. This year from July 4-6, the modern bodypaint movement strutted its stuff with wild designs and stylings.
According to the event's press release, "The World Bodypainting Festival has become the centre of an outdoor artistic village called 'Bodypaint City' which graces the shore of a pristine turquoise lake. Within 'Bodypaint City' visitors are welcomed by hundreds of performers and models being painted live on the festival grounds. There are live performance, street performance, huge stage acts and installation art to be discovered around every corner."
Up to 30,000 visitors come to the festival in search of an exciting, live art exhibit. The visitors are greeted upon arrival by hundreds of performers and models on the grounds. During the week, guests can participate in over 50 workshops where beginners or advanced participants can experiment and learn techniques used for body art making.
