Back by popular demand, the iconic sci-fi/horror series will premiere on Fox in 2016. Before paranormal investigators Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) and Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) return in the highly anticipated revival of The X-Files, the duo is nominated for 2015 MTV Fandom Awards.
As we previously mentioned, 13 years have passed since FBI agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully were on the TV screen solving weird and supernatural cases. The reboot of Fox's popular sci-fi series continues with 6 brand new episodes. Not only are the leads set to reprise their iconic roles, creator Chris Carter will takeover as showrunner for the franchise that launched his and many other careers.
According to MTV, actor Tyler Posey (Teen Wolf) and actress Bella Thorne (Scream) will host the show. MTV has added four new categories: Social Superstar of the Year, Animation Fandom of the Year, Best Fandom Army, and Best Revival Fandom.
The X-Files is in competition with Fuller House (the cast of Full House reunion without the Olson Twins), Ghostbusters (the all-female led Ghostbusters 3), Twin Peaks (David Lynch's 19 episode arc on Showtime), Mad Max: Fury Road (the fourth installment and reboot of the Mad Max franchise previously starring Mel Gibson) and Jurassic World (the fourth installment of the Jurassic Park franchise).
As we previously mentioned, Dominic Purcell and Wentworth Miller have signed on to reprise their breakout roles in the Prison Break revival, which is currently in development. There's also the 24 spinoff in the works at Fox. As you can see, there's more revivals on the way and we haven't even mentioned Coach.
