Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready, ex-Guns N' Roses bassist Duff McKagan, and former Screaming Trees drummer Barrett Martin are forming a new band. The currently unnamed project will feature a number of different singers including Killing Joke's Jaz Coleman according to Billboard.
McCready explains to Billboard how the impressive trio of musicians got together.
"Duff and Barrett and I got together. We wrote some new stuff and we took some of those old Mad Season demos from that [unreleased] second 'Disinformation' record, so we are trying to find something to do with those. "We're talking to Jaz from Killing Joke and I've been trying to find some singers to work on some of that stuff."
The band Mad Season, which McCready and Martin played in, are going to be reissuing the groups only album April 2. McCready and Martin have plenty of experience playing together during their time in Walking Papers. When they were playing together on the Walking Papers album it inspired them to start a new project.
Martin tells Billboard, "...I had a whole bunch of song ideas and Mike had a whole bunch of song ideas and Duff had a whole bunch of song ideas that were not making it into Walking Papers. We decided that we would go into the studio and record them. Right now they're being sent out to different singers. Mike and Duff are overseeing that because they know everybody."
The new band hasn't set any release dates yet for the new band, but it apparently will rest on the singers schedules. Rock fans can look forward to an impressive new band though. This, along with the news from McCready that Pearl Jam will be releasing a new album at some point in 2013, and Pearl Jams fans have a lot of new music to get ready for. Pearl Jam already has set two shows in July for a Fall tour.
