Angela Bassett

Angela Bassett has been on the go promoting her new film "Whitney," which is scheduled to premiere on Lifetime Saturday, Jan. 17, at 8 p.m. One stop the new director made was to "The Wendy Williams Show," where she opened up about directing for the first time, Bobbi Kristina drama and her thoughts on making the movie. When Wendy asked the actress, "I understand this is your first time directing?" Bassett replied, "My first time." Wendy, "How did this all come about for you?" Bassett: "I was having lunch one day with the executive producer who produced [the] 'Betty and Coretta' movie that I did for Lifetime with Mary J. Blige a couple years back. He says he's working on this Whitney movie ... knowing his integrity, the way he goes about things, I was excited about it, because two years I wasn't excited about the idea." She adds, "It seemed too soon, and just inappropriate at the time, but now three years later I thought, 'Oh, wonderful' ... he talked about finding a director." Bassett said she rushed home to try to find some directors for her friend: Read More »

'Horrible Bosses 2' Film Review

By Kenneth Brown |

Horrible Bosses 2 - Film Review

The excitement building up to the release of Horrible Bosses 2 was massive to say the least, and early verdicts suggested it didn't live up to its hype. Today the film was released in the United Kingdom, and many other European countries, and although many enjoyed it, they, as many American fans did, admitted it was far below the expectations the pre-release hype had set. Many fell in love with Horrible Bosses, so a sequel was the right move, so director Sean Anders believed. Stars like Jason Bateman, Jason Sudeikis, Charlie Day, Jennifer Aniston and Jamie Foxx of course made the film acceptable, but even they couldn't prevent many fans from saying it should of been called Horrible Father, with the plot loosely surrounding the aforementioned bosses. Should you watch this in the cinema, wait for the DVD release, or give it a swerve all together? Read More »

By Star Connor |

Wendy Williams

Wendy Williams has finally broken her silence and is addressing the backlash she has been getting from outraged fans and celebrity friends of Aaliyah after a Lifetime biopic premiered Saturday, Nov. 15. After Timbaland and fans across the nation expressed their disgust for the "Aaliyah: The Princess of R&B" film, Williams finally addressed the criticism — and if you think she was going to issue an apology, think again. Williams said: "I see my Aaliyah movie broke the Internet this weekend! Everybody got an opinion. Well, I must tell you, whether you loved or hate, you watched. It was the second-highest rated movie on all of cable this year so far." Ouch! But Williams is right. For the ones who watched the film, Lifetime received some great numbers. Wendy was a genius with the controversial film that even the late singer's family disapproved of. Read More »
