Kylo Ren, Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Ewan McGregor is at it again! Though there are rumors that the Scottish actor could reprise his role as Obi-Wan Kenobi in spin-off movies that might turn into a new trilogy for Star Wars, he's still throwing shade at J.J. Abrams' upcoming The Force Awakens film. To be fair, he has been praising the director for what he's seen in the Episode VII trailers and teasers, but McGregor can't get past the crossguard lightsaber we saw in the hands of Adam Driver's character, supposed Sith villain Kylo Ren. By Jon Niles | Aug 20, 2014 10:51 AM EDT

Episode VII cuts CGI use

One of the biggest complaints about the Star Wars prequel trilogy was the overuse of CGI as opposed to practical effects. With the new trilogy (staring with the yet-to-be titled Episode VII from J.J. Abrams) coming out in the next handful of years, fans assumed CGI would play a big part considering the advances we've had in filmmaking. But after seeing some behind-the-scenes videos, we know that practical effects have been built, too. Now a new interview with Episodes VIII and IX director Rian Johnson has confirmed CGI will not be the main focus for effects! Read More »
